Description
"Dance of the Blessed Spirits" appears in the second act of Gluck's monumental opera "Orpheus and Eurydice". Written in a minuet form, the solo flute part is one ofthe most memorable melodies in the literature. Set in the "Elysiun Fields", the dance is both tranquil and melancholy (they are, after all dead). I have added an obligato horn part with the flute which, I think, gives it more of a contemplative quality. I hope you do, too.
